Revolution . . . American Style

I believe there is a foundational reason why the French Revolution failed (“Liberty, Equality and Fraternity”) and the American Revolution succeeded (Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness).  Outcomes versus possibilities.  Materialism versus spiritualism.  Radicals versus Citizens.  The State versus the Individual.  Reason versus the Creator.

The United States was founded on the premise of endless and open possibilities for men.  Everyone gets to start the race at the same place (Equality).  Everyone gets to run in the race (Life).  Everyone gets to run the race unhandicapped (Liberty).  And everyone gets to run as far and as hard as we damn well please (Pursuit of Happiness).

In our country everyone is presumed to start the race equal, not to finish it equal – Born equal, not live and die equal.
