The Analects of Mudcat: Guns

“Too many people believe guns are dangerous — only until they need one.”

Bob Costas should be forced to give a formal apology to every gun owner in the United States, furthermore I believe he should be suspended or fired for using the air time of a sports event to give his (no matter how ludicrous) opinon on gun rights. If this football player did not have a gun and was intent on commiting this awful crime he would have used a knife or some other weapon. Bob needs to think about what he would do if he was in bed at night and an intruder was to enter his house and put his families life in jepordy, I bet he would have a very different outlook on a handgun then.

      Footballs don’t score touchdowns.
      Microphones don’t say stupid things.
And guns don’t pull their own triggers.

If he was being intellectually honest, Mr. Costas might have at least questioned the role of the person holding that gun and, perhaps, his participation in a sport that literally involves players doing violence unto each other.

      Of course, Mr. Costa’s paycheck — at least last Sunday evening — comes from that sport . . . . and then there’s always: “Military Intelligence” . . . . “Doctor Appointments” . . . . “Liberal Intellectual Honesty” . . . .
